Journey of LRFC
Winner of the competition of five universities in Korea (2008)
Founded as the LRET-Funded Research Center(LRETC), later changed to LRF-Funded Research Center for Ship Hydroelasicity(LRFC)
Funding and period: 1.0 m￡ for 2008-2013, 1.5 m￡ for 2013-2018, 0.6m￡ for 2019-2021
Supported about 20 professors and more than 100 graduate students in Korean universities, UK, USA, Japan, and Singapore.
The LRF grant has been the seed fund for young professors, supporting new research on ship hydroelsticity and hydrodynamic performance in waves.
LRFC published about 110 peer-review journal papers up to 2022
LRFC organized about 15 international conferences, workshops, and events, including the CEO Forum of the Korean Shipbuilding Industry and International Conference on Decarbonization and Digitalization in Marine Technology.
Carried out many research projects sponsored by Korean government, industries, classifications, and research organizations.
Global collaborations were set up through research projects, events, and education.
